The Four Pillars of Wellness

I hope this finds you all well as we ride out this latest wave. One thing I know for sure is that what we know for sure today, might very likely be different from what we know for sure tomorrow!

The truth is, this is always the case. The idea that we can control things and our desire to do so is simply an illusion, and clinging to this is what causes us to suffer.

I also fear this attitude that there is only one truth carries over into our view of our health and wellness.

In today’s diet crazed world full of fads, trends and quite frankly, mis-information, it can be so difficult knowing what to do. Is it just me, or has it been drummed into us for so long, that if we just eat this, don’t eat that, and log 10,000 steps daily we’ll be healthy, fit and at our ideal weight?

I call BS. There is no one magical food, no arbitrary number of steps and no one way to be healthy. There is really no one size that fits all. What works for one person could turn out to be the wrong approach for another.

Numerous credible studies and respected doctors tell us that a flexible and fluid, multi-pronged approach to our health is what delivers real long-lasting results.

Since most of us love food, and love to eat (me included!) and believe in the benefits of exercise, it can be easy to simply focus all of our energy on what we’re putting into our mouths and how much we’re moving. In actual fact, we are so much more than just what we eat and how often we exercise. Yes of course these things matter, but so do many other facets of our health, such as who we are when we eat, the quality of our sleep and the burden of stress we’re carrying around.

Four Pillars of Health

I find this news empowering, and I hope that you do too. Going forward, I intend to focus my work as a yoga teacher and a health coach on Four Pillars of Wellness: food, mood, rest & movement.

Especially now, in the time of COVID, a flexible and fluid outlook is our friend. If one door shuts, we open another. And knowing that we have four doors to choose from gives us a bit of wiggle room.

To help support you in feeling your best, I’m offering two monthly membership packages. While I will continue to offer single online yoga classes, I know many of you are eager to go deeper. With this in mind, check out both my Founder’s Club unlimited yoga & relaxation package, as well as my Premium Self Care package.
