At the risk of sounding omnipotent, I manifested Sylvie the Poodle into our life.
Really. I did. With the help of Pinterest.
I know this sounds completely insane, but it’s true!
Here’s the tell-all:
My sweet soulmate, Oscar, crossed the rainbow bridge in August of 2020. He was 15. We had a great life together. I loved having a dog (he was my first) and I knew I’d get another when the time was right.
Nearly two years later, it was clear, the time was right. I knew for sure:
I was ready for another dog
I wanted another standard poodle
I wanted another rescue dog
I also knew why I wanted these things:
I love having a dog for their companionship, unconditional love and loyalty
I’m committed to animal welfare and rescue. Animal shelters are full of pups needing a home, and any breed is available for rescue. (No judgment towards my friends who have purchased dogs from reputable breeders. Everyone has their own cause.)
After years of lovingly caring for senior dogs— my Oscar and Rob’s bull terrier, Zippy—Rob and I both wanted a youthful, active pet. A friend we could take into the mountains, on the trails, and have adventures with.
Studies show that having a pet is actually good for your health! Pet owners are less-likely to suffer from physical and mental ailments.
However, the main reason I was ready for another dog, is that I wanted more joy in my life.
So…knowing that adopting a standard poodle might take some time, I got to work making it happen.
I told my neighbor (who worked at the Humane Society) that I was on the hunt for a standard poodle.
I put pictures of poodles on my vision board.
I scrolled Pinterest for poodle pictures. If you use Pinterest, or any social media for that matter, you know that once you click on one poodle, a million will start popping up!
This is exactly how manifesting works.
Every time I got one of those “You may like this,” emails from Pinterest, I opened it and saved a few pictures to my aptly named “Oodles of Poodles” board.
I didn’t consciously set out to manifest a merle, standard poodle…
In fact, I didn’t even know that was a thing. But over time, I was sending the Universe pretty clear signals that I liked dark and colorful poodles. (Check out the link to my board and you’ll see what I mean.)
You can guess what happened.
One day, my neighbor messaged me, “Hey, we have a poodle at the humane society,” and she sent the “before” picture, above.
I was doubtful that there was a standard poodle under that mess of hair, but there was! The rest, as they say, is history.
How to get what you want
…starts with a clear vision. What do you want and why?
I may not be a poodle broker, but if you could use some help manifesting the health that you want, reach out. It’s what I love to do.
