I’d say I’m pretty darn healthy, now, but as a young woman, I struggled with wicked food cravings, binge eating, and unhealthy lab reports. I crashed mid-afternoon. Many afternoons I’d fall asleep at my computer. (Of course, this could have been more closely related to my job at the time as an actuarial analyst.😜)

To try and energize myself, I’d eat boxes of fat-free cookies and candy, and drink diet Coke. Then at night, I’d mix a batch of chocolate chip cookies just to eat the dough.

Here I was, an active young woman with a successful career, yet my blood work exposed elevated triglycerides and a cholesterol level of over 250. I was riding a terrifying blood sugar roller coaster that was leaving me either puffy and bloated or dangerously thin.

I'd constantly berate myself because I wasn’t happy with how I looked or how I felt. I just wanted to feel confident and comfortable in my body.

But that’s not the worst part…

My friends and family were worried about me, and I beat myself up every morning–swearing to stay off of the sweet stuff, only to succumb again at night.
